When I first heard about LoTRO i thought it would be utter crap, and that there was no way it could live up to the hype. I was wrong.

LoTRO is definitely a better game than WoW. It takes what's good about WoW and adds what WoW should have had. It doesn't try to be different from WoW with the regular layout and UI so the learning curve isnt bad. The game is more immersive and the quests are more rewarding and the deed system is great for people who like to grind. Plus a free mini expansion will come out online every couple of months adding more to the game (a lot more than what Blizzard's free content updates added to WoW).

LoTRO is currently the top selling MMO (Doesn't have 8 million players yet but if it continues like it is it will have more than that many at that point in its timeline) much to the chagrin of WoW fanboys who I'm sure will make themselves heard in this topic before the end. It is on track to replace WoW as the top MMO. I highly doubt Age of Conan or Guild Wars will dethrone LoTRO because it takes more than a good game, it takes the lore the game is based on. The Warcraft lore helped WoW a lot, and the Tolkien lore is really helping LoTRO.

One great feature is the main story line features instanced content where events can take place in the game without affecting everyone in the game (like npcs can travel or interact etc) and its not like u just walk in and kill a bunch of mobs that were just standing around before you got there.

This is the official FAQ site. After you find the right copy for you, download and install it, make sure that you have an active account for login on, though. Otherwise, it will be useless.

well to make sure you don't go back delete all your characters and cancel your subscription.then uninstall the game. i think honestly your thinking about it too much. just wipe it out of your mind that it exist. create new challenges for yourself with the hobbies you already do.

Your perspective needs to change. As long as you think WoW is the most entertaining thing to do, it IS the most entertaining thing to do (as that is something subjective). Therefore, until you find something as intriguing and captivating as Warcraft, you will always be thinking of it.

I would suggest joining a sports team if you are still young enough to be in school, as that will give you something to do right after school (practice) and give you something to do on weekends (be it hang out with teammates, practice, or games). If you are old enough, try to find someone to date. Both of those options is a whole lot more fun than wasting time in front of a computer for several hours a day (im a Craft addict myself, but still maintain a rigorous exercise routine and strict eating plan).

You could start easy and just go find some other computer games, but no MMO's.

I left wow about 10 months back, the first month was kinda annoying since I wanted to know what was going on. But now. I just don't even think about it. I've filled with my time with more productive hobbies like wargaming and modelling. (specifically getting back into Warhammer :p )

For maximum quitting. Delete the account if you haven't already. Or get a friend to change the password to something else so you can't access your account avoiding a relapse. Playing the game isn't bad if it doesn't control your life. But if you found yourself on it from morning to night like I use to them yea, stay away from it.

there really isnt much else you can do besides that. It's a game. those things are all real, and most are actually pretty cool. If riding a wave or playing a nasty riff isn't better than WoW than i dont know what to tell you. Do a lot of social stuff, go out with friends.
