Q&A: What specific parts do i need for a decent gaming computer?
Question by Michael: What specific parts do i need for a decent gaming computer?I’m not an extreme gamer who needs a $ 5000 computer so I limited my budget to $ 1000 and i understand the basic concept on how to build a computer. I also understand that certain parts may not work with others. Can anyone list recommended parts needed for a gaming computer, specifically FPS gaming. I know what parts are needed to build a computer itself, but i want a recommendation on specific gaming parts. A list would be much appreciated! Thanks.Best answer:

Well, I’d recommend a Quad Core. By 2k10 it will be the recommended CPU. So that will give you a head start.Stick with 2GB RAM. Just upgrade it later on when you really need more. Motherboard? I’d say Asus. But thats just me. Just make sure it has 4 to 6 RAM slots for future upgrades.Graphics Card? If you’re not splurging, I’d recommend the 9600 GT 1GB. Make sure its HDMI compatible, in case you wanna take that baby on to high-defAs for disk space, as much as possible. 800GB can go a really long way now with games getting bigger and bigger.DVD drive, and two extra fans. Thats it. You’re good to go. Good Luck

Well you can go for a 2.66 – quad core processor , GTS 250 with SLI or 9800GT with SLI and 1066 DDR2 2 GB Ram with XP …ohh you need a 650W power supply and a decent motherboard from Intel or n vidia which supports the config
I think that will be enough for gaming ..
with this config I am able to play crysis at High, crysis warhead at very high and far cry 2 at very high
Just go to ibuypower.com and click on the i7 configurator, there it will only let you select the parts that are compatable , except you’ll need to get bigger power supplies for SLI and overclocking if you do that later. cyberpowerpc.com overclocks them for you for a price.
You don’t want any video card less than the Gforce gtx 260, 896mb version, I’d say, since it’s got 3d. It will also run Crysis at 30fps at full resolution with some settings on high., some on medium, which is just amazing for the price anyway. I built one here;
